Charged twice. Charged back via CC to resolve, ActBlue unresponsive

Basically the title. They doubled my donation amount (I have screenshots to prove what I filled out in the donation field). No response to email after 24 hrs, I emailed again to advise in a further 48 I would be going through my credit card company. Sure enough, radio silence - so charged back. I did then get an email from ActBlue 24 hrs after the chargeback saying a refund had been issued - what the heck are they spending all those tips on? It sure isn't prompt service to patrons. Chip in some decent customer service and I'll chip in a donation or two. But this was super annoying, so my policy is Never again, Act Blue.

ActBlue: a master theft that steals in broad day light

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I made a single donation in 2016 and without my authorization, ActBlue posted recurring charges to my credit card. There is nowhere to call and emails are not answered and charges are continuing being posted to my card. The only way I can stop them if to canceled that card. {{redacted}}

Unauthorized monthly deductions difficult to stop

Thought I was donating once and ended up with monthly charges that we did not catch right away. Then called and got answering machine with website also unhelpful in cancelling. Had to dispute through my credit card. This seems to be a scam?? Not even sure the money is going for the worthy cause I support. Blah and blah and blah in order to get 100 words on this review, really? {{Redacted}} the end. Really?

Had the same experience. I'm considering instituting a class action suit for fraud.

Wrongful monthly withdrawls after authorization of one withd

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
At least three single contributions I made have wrongly been taken monthly, perhaps because I could not see Act Blue’s blending checkmark, only an outline rather than solid checkmark making it almost invisible, added without my choosing it. Each has resulted in an overdraft charge from my credit union, which I cannot afford. Please reimburse, including OD charges of $37 x 9

ActBlue tries to rip you off with recurring unauthorized monthly deductions

It happened twice to me. The first time, after unchecking the monthly recurring box (which is automatically checked by them), I received a receipt for the donation amount and recurring 12month which I didn’t authorize. I went back to the site and edited the recurring payment down to 0. This worked the first time in December. I donated a second time in February and this time not only did they do the same thing, they also added an additional cost that I did not authorize. Contacted them by the only method available on their site, by email, twice. When I didn’t hear back from them, I contacted my credit card company who removed the charge for me. A few days later, got a refund notice from ActBlue for the second charge, but a few days following that I got another charge from them. Seriously, ActBlue?! So this time I called my credit card company who said there were three of these unauthorized charges on my card. They shut down my card and are investigating it as FRAUD!! Do yourself a favor, donate directly to a candidate if you can, but don’t use this ActBlue.

Horribly misleading and Unaccountable.

Unbelievable. An organization that will not accept your answers and comments without receiving a financial return. They mislead you by asking questions then don't offer you the "choice" of not contributing. What they are doing is no better than this site requiring 100 words before it will publish the comments. Shame on "pissed consumer" for this arbitrary rule that makes no sense in reaching the objective it was founded for. You are wasting people's time who are able to concisely express their concerns without having to waste others time in writing a bunch of words, as I am doing now in order to have this published.

Scummy site

Just read the recent news about the RNC re-endorsing Roy Moore and I was so absolutely disgusted I decided to finally donate to this race through Doug Jones. I just looked at the payment page, there is NO information saying this will be a recurring payment. Luckily I checked my e-mail right after (expecting some kind of automated thank you note from the campaign btw, didn't get one) and saw that they had set it as recurring ONCE A WEEK. Holy christ. I want Jones to win but this is absolutely scummy. I cancelled it so hopefully they will not try to charge me again. Really despicable practice, kind of throws a wrench in the good guy image. Luckily I'd rather see him in than a ***.

I had the same thing happen to me last year! Took me awhile to iron it out - AND - the email posed as being from Hillary Clinton when it was actually for some Rhode Island congressman. I don’t really know how else to donate to Doug Jones and I can’t bear to go through with donating through act blue - really does not reflect well on the “good guy” image of the democratic party...

I contributed $50 tonight and has the same experience - I was on automatic pay - *** no - I then tried to research their financials - well you might as well try to get Trumps Tax returns - this organization is not good - I have asked them for a refund of the $50 and will go to another site to do my donation. I hope it isn't a big problem but fear they will fight me

I have just completed my 6th phone call to Act Blue. I have never received a reply. Also sent 5 emails to Act Blue and never received a reply. So inconsiderate. Of course, I can't proceed with my review because a flash just popped up stating I must enter at least 100 words. Unbelievable ! What else can I say to these ignorant people? Tried again - same message. Guess I will keeping typing until a get 100 freaking words. {{Redacted}}

No Response to my Queries

I tried to contact ActBlue about a mistaken overcharge of $500 and no person answered their phone, but simply referred me to their online site for "quicker" response. Two days passed and no response. I then went to my credit card company and filed a dispute, which I am certain will prevail in the end, but I would recommend finding another way to contribute to democratic causes and candidates than using this intermediary, as they have gotten too big and out of touch with their contributors. Also, there web page is too confusing and none responsive. I hit several question tabs and there were no written answers. Bizarre.
