ActBlue Fraudulent Charge Tactics

They have changed my one time contribution to a recurring contribution. I have gone in to cancel out recurring charging and it won't go away! I am working with my credit card company on this one. My credit card company has a feature called "virtual Credit Card. What it does is create a one time temporary credit card number that sits on top of your real credit card. You can use it only for online purchases and it is good for only one usage then dissapears. I have gone into my ActBlue account and put that in there so they will only be able to do one more charge and then from then on, no more. I need to find who to contact to file charges against ActBlue. Does anybody know? I really want to bury that outfit. They are criminals.

Fraudulent withdrawals of money from my Credit Card

I HATE ACT BLU! While a dedicated progressive with preference for Democratic candidates and causes, I will never again give to any of their fundraising requests that are managed by ACT BLU.

This is based on several of my experiences and others I know. At least on two different occasions, ACT BLU made unauthorized charges against a credit card given for a one time use. They offer no way to delete yourself from their database, or even see your info. They now also have a way of getting automatic updates from Credit card company when you get a new card, with new number.

You CANNOT shake them! They also have been drawing monthly recurring charges on my elderly parents card given for only a one time only charge through Pay Pal. ACT BLU won't respond to their pleas to STOP. This is not only fraudulent but downright elder abuse!

This is FRAUD!!!! A legal Action needs to begin against these unethical trolls!Donors BEWARE OF ACT BLU!!!

This seems to be a troll.. This complaint is a bit over the top, but there is a remedy..

Or this person is a bit naive about rectifying the bad situation.. I'm not a fan of ActBlu either..

You first do a stop payment with your credit card issuer/bank. Secondly you log into Actblu and make sure you did not set up recurring payments.. You also delete all other cards from your profile.

You will delete your affected card after you have asked for a refund. . Third, you make sure to report to the banks Fraud department that you want to stop any future with drawls from Actblu and suspect they are making illegal withdrawls and that your card account was hacked. Fourth, you get a new card and tell the bank to make sure Visa is notified not to continue to charge you account.

Third. You report them to the better business Bureau for each string of unauthorized transactions, only providing your last 4 digits of the affected card.

Is there any way we can get all our complaints to federal law enforcement agencies? Maybe we can start a petition demanding that Act Blue be investigated for fraud.

Recurring charges (which I have NOT authorized) appeared on my credit card account.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have contacted my bank and ActBlue and am awaiting replies from both. What I AM going to do, is remove my credit card information from the ActBlue site so they cannot charge my account.

This is fraudl! Another way to get around them charging your account is to put in credit card information from an account that has expired or you have cancelled. The charges then cannot go through! I am SO disgusted with all this campaign fundraising!

Winning elections has become a race to see who can raise the most money. If money is the ONLY way to win, then our whole political system must be revamped.

I did not even know I was being charged, until I looked at my CC statement. I have 2 recurring charges from this merchant.

I have changed by CC and am requesting a full refund. So pissed

On three occasions, I too received monthly, and even weekly, recurrent charges from ActBlue, converted from one-time. When they failed to respond, I asked PayPal to refuse any further charges from ActBlue.

For 6-8 months I made no more contributions via that organization. Then, this morning, I opened a request for funds for another worthy cause. On the payment page, a one-time contribution of $15 had become $25 on the second page, and ActBlue's role was very lightly noted at the bottom of the last page.

I cancelled the payment. They have not mended their ways.

Making charges on my card without permission

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I complete numerous petitions everyday, and unbeknownst to me some of these petitions send a message to ActBlue to I am contributing when any reality I am NOT. The biggest guilty party of this is the Senate Majority PAC. Each time this has happened I have immediately contacted ActBlue to demand that the charge be reversed. They have done this. The last time that a charge was put on my CC it was for $250, so I immediately turned off my card since it takes 2 to 3 business days for the charge to be reversed. I have emailed ActBlue to remove my information from their database as I did NOT give them permission to save my information when I made small contributions to the Hillary campaign. I also STRONGLY recommended to them that they verify that the CC is to be charged just like all websites that I shop on. This would end the complaints against them. I have not had a response to that email yet.

ActBlue hacked my PyPal account

Out of nowhere I suddenly get a thank you email for my continued support of the democratic party. It was Act Blue and they wanted to thank me for the $30.00 donation.

I had never heard of these people, so I looked at my Pay Pal account and sure enough there was a $30.00 donation. The odd thing was that when I look at my present spending (since my last statement) it shows the $30.00 donated three times over the last three months. But if open each individual statement, the charges don't appear?

Now how do they do that? PayPay is looking into it for me .....but don't donate to these guys, they are complete and total rip offs.

Recurring charges, checked box, beware!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I have called Act Blue and while I like the cause, and the fund raising, I have objected to their practice of pre-checking the recurring charges box. I have called, and I have written.

This practice continues. I first unconnected my credit card. I started using PayPal to pay. I diligently unchecked the boxes when donating.

The recurring charges then posted on PayPal. I have stopped them there as well. I cannot donate this way any longer, as they refuse to listen to me. This practice of pre-checking the recurring options box forces careful diligence on the consumer.

I was told that some organizations set it up this way, and others did not, however it is Act Blue that is placing this before its donors. Buyer beware.

Look, think about it: ActBlue scams people for money in order to promote liberal and who-knows-what other nefarious activities. Why would you think they are on the up and up?

You would do yourself a favor by putting any excess money into your savings account at your bank or credit union. You do have a savings account, don't you?

ACTBLUE taking unothorized money from my bank account.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I made a one time donation to ACTBLUE thinking it was a donation directly to the DCCC. I'm sure it was a one time donation but they started to automatically take money from my checking account EVERY WEEK.

I think this is a scam operating as a non-profit political organization. I have seen many complaints on the internet about this practice of taking extra money out of peoples accounts by ACTBLUE. If you are a democrat and want to donate, donate directly to the Democratic party (DCCC). It is my opinion that ACTBLUE is aware they are doing this practice without consent because they know either most people won't see the weekly deductions from their bank account or that the donors won't see it until several payments have been made.

Who is the recipient of these donations. Where is ACTBLUE's proof that donations went anywhere.

Normal people certainly wouldn't donate to this organization, of course and now you know why using a debit card instead of a credit card is so dangerous. This is how we learn. Now you know.

Did not noticed box was checked for recurrent payments.

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I have donated to act blue several years now. Lately, I noticed recurrent payments occurring on my bank statements. I called my bank and ask for all activity towards act blue cease effective immediately. On the occasions that I noticed the check box, I unchecked it but some payments still reoccurred. I will attempt to contact them over the next several days to get a refund. I will halt all proceeds for any political purpose. I would like to see less advertisement and more face to face activity by way of door knocking and/or town hall meetings. Organize for more marches. This country is in a total disarray right now. Put your big boy/big girl pants on and do things right.

Act Blue is dishonest!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
I made a "one time" contribution to a political candidate and was very careful to select the "one time" option. They set me up for a weekly payment of the amount and I didn't discover the deception for a month. I am very angry at this dishonesty and will never donate to a political cause again!

Your account information WILL be shared with 3rd parties.

In a recent election, I used ActBlue to to donate $100 to someone I fully supported. ActBlue's system security somehow allowed my financial account (debit card) to be compromised. I began seeing debits to by account all over the US. Their negligence and lack of appropriate account information security caused me much stress and hassle in closing my card account resulting in me having a new account reestablished. Today, I have asked ActBlue on numerous occasions to "UNSUBSCRIBE" from their contact from a constant bombardment of political campaign solicitors....even local and state election is other states. PLEASE.....do yourself a huge favor and NEVER allow ActBlue access to your personal financial or email account information.

ActBlue Not Even

First of all, I love the Democratic Party but I do not like the agency that they chose to participate in collecting donations like ActBlue. They charged me over and over again after my review. Not only on one card but on several. I don't know if they are volunteers or not but I feel that the Democratic grassroots parties are losing out on funding because of it and losing credibility. I think that the campaign manager that I left an email to should have responded when I told him initially about what's happening to our accounts and relationships. He did not respond which was not good. It looked like he didn't care if people who support Hillary and his types are going to lose credibility over it. He also, kept on asking over and over again to join the campaign cause and donate but after this, he should know not a penny to the Democratic Party will come from me. I do not appreciate being deceived into trusting agencies that are not ethical. The campaign manager for Hillary and Bernie Sanders really need to get it together if he is still working for the Democratic Party causes and campaigning. I also contacted Bernie Sanders and he did not respond either after being supported by me for little donations. I am very disappointed that they don't care about who supports them.

Act blue took unauthorized money from our account.

My husband made several donations to various candidates and democratic causes. In each case, although my husband was careful not to sign up for reoccurring donations, Act blue listed him as a reoccurring donor anyway.

In some cases, he was signed up for weekly donations, in others it was monthly. This resulted in our account being overdrawn . By the time we figured out what was happening, we were unable to pay our rent. Either Act blue needs to redesign their donation process, or these"misunderstandings" with our accounts are deliberate.

I find it hard to believe that this could occur as often as it does without Act blue making any attempt prevent these "misunderstandings" from happening. I spent an hour on my computer canceling " reoccurring donations" that neither my husband or myself authorized. When I brought up what happened with our bank account to my sister, I found out that Act blue had taken unauthorized money from her bank account also.

We will not be making anymore donations to anyone through Act Blue. I will also be telling anyone who will listen about what happened to us and encourage anyone who considers donating though Act blue to read the numerous complaints about Act blue's business practices.

Act Blue's (Democrats) reoccurring charges without consent

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
It is terrible, I have 4 or 5 credit cards that they charge without my consent. I made one time donations with them and then, Act Blue started charging them monthly without my consent. I emailed them but I didn't get a response. Act Blue caused me so much anger and frustration with my credit card companies that may not be able to keep them blocked from charging my cards so I may have to a new one. I had to wait a long time to have them put a block on each and every one of them. It's over a $3 charge every month on 4 or 5 credit cards. I donated during the campaign but I don't want to keep on doing it because I cannot afford it and did not consent to it. I am madder than hornet's nest!

Reccuring charges

Since December I have been getting recurring charges on my personal American Express card not authorized to be recurring. They were authorized to be a one time contribution.

At this point you have deducted over $ 10,000.00 from my account and my debt continues to rise! I believe my net statement has an additional charge of $ i,300.00 plus more coming up. Please be in touch with me to resolve this problem and restore my credit. A very dissatisfied contributor, Susan Tatum I have nothing more to say so please respond.

There is no way I can make this a 100 word complaint though maybe I should. Yes, I certainly should. So I continue for your satisfaction. There are now 110 words.

Why are you not satisfied?

And still you do not allow me to process this complaint. There are 131 words now.
